Deputy Minister of Pakistani Ministry of Commerce Visits Sino-US Food and Agriculture Innovation Center for Project Discussion
On November 9th, 2018, Muhammad Ashraf, Director-general of Business and Policy Office of Pakistani Ministry of Commerce (Deputy Minister) and his party visited Sino-US Food and Agriculture Innovation Center (SUFAIC) for project discussion. This visit mainly aims at discussing on exporting the agricultural technologies and products of Weifang National Comprehensive Pilot Zone for Opening-up Development of Agriculture Industry to the countries along the “the Belt and Road” including Pakistan.
Accompanied by Fan Changcheng, Deputy Director of SUFAIC, the delegation came to Shandong Henglian Group to discuss on the food additive project. The head of Henglian briefed the Pakistani guests the latest development and future plan of Henglian, mentioning that Henglian could export relevant technologies and specialty cellulose to Pakistan which will be regarded as its exporting center and radiate to the neighboring countries. Moreover, the head of Henglian also mentioned that his company could provide Pakistani partners consulting services in selecting location for industrial parks and assistance in determining the development direction as well as commercial operation mode of the parks.
Afterwards, the delegation visited a seedling park in Hanting District, Weifang to learn about the development mode of seedling industry in Weifang and the operation status of the park in detail. Seedling nursery and fruit tree management draw wide attention from the Pakistani delegation.
The delegation visited Shouguang Vegetable Expo Industrial Park, and showed strong interest in fruit and vegetable varieties as well as planting technology in Shouguang.
On that afternoon, the delegation attended a meeting on the 10th floor of SUFAIC where Zhang Mingjun, Dean of Sino-US Cross-border Germplasm Research Institute, SUFAIC, briefed the guests the ongoing Pakistani project of SUFAIC. The Pakistan delegation put forward some questions related to fruit and vegetable varieties and greenhouses which were answered by the Chinese side in detail. Su Guanghui, Director of Agricultural Bureau of Hanting District was present at the meeting and introduced to the guests Hanting National Modern Agriculture Industrial Park as well as Weifang National Comprehensive Pilot Zone for Opening-up Development of Agriculture Industry. Followed by the meeting, Muhammad Ashraf, Director-general of Business and Policy Office of Pakistani Ministry of Commerce (Deputy Minister) received an interview by Weifang Television Station.
With the acceleration of “the Belt and Road”construction, China has fostered closer ties with the countries along the line. Lately, the Premier of Pakistan said that in the future, the focus of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor construction will shift to agricultural development, employment expansion and introduction of foreign capital. The approval of the establishment of Weifang National Comprehensive Pilot Zone for Opening-up Development of Agriculture Industry will undoubtedly greatly promote cooperation between the two sides and better implement the strategy of agriculture going global. SUFAIC will give full play to its role as an international exchange platform, provide a new mode of cooperation between China and Pakistan, and establish a new mode of modern efficient agriculture and new agricultural supply system. The visit of Pakistani delegation is quite fruitful who will collaborate with SUFAIC on improving the quality and efficiency of Pakistani agriculture through the advanced agricultural technologies gathered by SUFAIC, and facilitate importing high quality agricultural produces from China.
