Director Wei Ji of SUFAIC warmly received the South African delegation. An in-depth discussion on greenhouse construction, export of fruit and vegetable varieties and planting technology, as well as international training was conducted between the two sides. At the end of the meeting, an cooperation intention on co-construction of a 5 to 10 hectares of greenhouse demonstration park in Pretoria, South Africa was reached between SUFAIC and the Delegation. This project aims to assist the South African government in demonstrating and promoting greenhouse technology to smallholder farmers in South Africa, transforming the agricultural structure of smallholder agriculture, and thus promote the development of smallholder agriculture in South Africa. Prof. TL Nedambale formally extended an invitation to SUFAIC, hoping to enhance mutual understanding through mutual visits and lay a foundation for further exploration of cooperation.
The South African delegation’s visit is of far-reaching significance. As a model of South-South cooperation, South Africa and China are in the second “golden decade” of BRICS cooperation. The Chinese government and the South African government strongly advocate the “Belt and Road Initiative” , and cooperation among BRICS with an attempt to achieve common prosperity through sharing development achievements. As the backbone of Weifang Comprehensive Pilot Zone for Opening-up Development of Agriculture Industry on expanding international engagement, SUFAIC responds to the call of the Chinese government on building a BRICS Community of Interests and China-Africa Community with a Shared Future. It will take the BRICS boat and integrate the cooperation between Chinese and South Africa enterprises into the BRICS cooperation framework to promote mutual benefit and win-win development.
