University of Nebraska-Lincoln representative visits SUFAIC for technical exchange


Professor Curtis Weller, Head of the Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, had a technical exchange with the Sino-US Food and Agricultural Innovation Center (SUFAIC) on the morning of September 14. Meng Fandong, Deputy Director of Weifang Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau, and Guan Congyong, Deputy Director of Weifang Food Valley Coordination and Promotion Office, had a cordial meeting with the visitors, accompanied by relevant directors of SUFAIC.

Ji Wei,Director of SUFAIC, welcomed Professor Curtis Weller's visit and introduced the Center and Food Valley from the aspects of its establishment, main functions and cooperative organizations. Director Meng introduced the development of animal husbandry in Weifang. He said that the direction of deep processing of food enterprises is a very critical node, we need in many ways to adopt to international advanced methods for transformation and development. There are many similarities between Nebraska's agriculture and Weifang, and we have a wide range of cooperation with the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.

Professor Weller introduced the operation and profit model of the Food Processing Center of the University of Nebraska and expressed his hope for further technical exchanges and cooperation with Weifang Food and Agricultural Enterprises via the platform of the Center. Then Professor Weller signed an engagement letter with the Center and became a member of the International Advisory Committee of Experts of the Center. Professor Weller's marks a great addition to the expert international think tank of the Center for food and agricultural innovation between China and the United States.

During the visit, Professor Weller also visited the Center's Food Innovation Workshop, highly appreciated the drying line technology and made sincere suggestions on the laboratory setup.
